As the (high school/college) student's ministry of the Indian Orthodox Syrian Church, Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Student Movement (MGOCSM) owes its name to our patron saint, Mar Gregorios Geevarghese (Parumala Kochuthirumeni), the first saint from the Church.
The ministry meets monthly after the Holy Qurbana. The sessions are comprised of prayer, bible reading, devotional songs, classes/speeches, quizzes, games, community service, entertainment programs etc. Various MGOCSM activities focused on the mission statement include:
- Bible studies focused on faith, liturgy and traditions of the church.
- Educational orientation classes and personality development programs.
- Community Service (i.e. Providing clothes, medicines and financial aid to those in need)
- Sports tournaments with sister churches
- Art and service activities with Sunday School kids
- Annual visits to celebrate Holy Qurbana with Orthodox Churches other than the Indian church
- Quiz competitions
- Hosts for Blood Drives
MGOCSM also helps students to apply Sunday school topics to their daily life, discuss current events from the Orthodox perspective, and carry out the mission statement of "Worship, Study, and Service".
