Beena was born on June 30, 1962 at Valayil House, Venpala, Thiruvalla, Kerala, India, the third
of three children of Varghese and Marykutty, both educators. She graduated from the Government
Model High School for Girls,
Chenganoor, Kerala in 1977. Thereafter, she enrolled at the Mar Thoma
College, Thiruvalla, from which she received the BA degree in Economics (1982) as well as completed
all requirements towards a Masters Degree in Economics
(1985).

Beena and Varghese (Thampi) Chacko of Erattaplammuttil, Mulakkuzha, Chenganoor were married on
January 6, 1986. She was re-united with her husband in the Washington Metropolitan Area in 1987.
Upon completion of
her studies at the Catonsville and Baltimore City Community Colleges, Beena
was employed as a staff at the Howard County Hospital, Columbia, Maryland, since 1994. Beena was
very involved in church, interdenominational, Kerala
cultural and social programs and activities.

Through her easygoing personality, Beena acquired a vast array of friends and admirers at the work
place as well as among the Indian community. In spite of the afflictions due to illness, and fully realizing
the inevitability of her condition, Beena always kept her faith in God and served as a wonderful
witness to God through her reassuring smile, calmness and courage. In the short span of time that
God shared Beena with us, she was truly an inspiration and a role model for all and taught us the fact
that we all have to take His Will in good stride.

Precious memories of Beena will be cherished by her friends, colleagues and, most of all, by her family:
her husband, Thampi; her two sons, Aby and Toby; her mother, Marykutty Varghese of Venpala, Kerala;
her two brothers, Paul (Sunny) Varghese and family of Edmonton, Canada and Roy Varghese and
family of Venpala, Thiruvalla; her two sisters-in-law, Kunjumole (Mrs. Thomas Mathew) and family of
Silver Spring, Maryland and Ammini (Mrs. Abraham Varghese) and family of Baltimore, Maryland;
and her brother-in-law, Varghese Skariah (Achenkunju) and family of Silver Spring, Maryland; and a host of
uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces and relatives.
